This is an old draft. Today I realised that it was never published.

I track topics in my journal on an index/tag page in front. This is helpful for revisiting topics over time. When was the last time I mentioned my routine? Obviously you have to get into the habit of adding page numbers next to topics in front, but it’s not so difficult. Sometime you remember and sometime you don’t. It’s totally ok. Just enjoy your life while you’re aiming for perfection.

My journal is just a blank book, nothing complicate, but it didn’t come with printed numbers. The way I these numbers quickly is to number then next 10 pages when I notice that I’m on a page without any numbering. The key is to only number the odd pages and make sure you start your number on the right side page. When looking for a page number, the odd pages are on the right and the even numbers inferred on the left.

The reason for going with odd numbers on the right is simple: It’s easier to flip through the pages on the right, holding them with your left hand and writing with your right hand. For the gifted left handers, I think it would be easier to do even numbers on the left and infer the odd numbers on the right.

However you decide to start your numbering, using this method allows you to number you journal in half the time and only number it a few steps ahead. I takes little to no time.
